  3.                               USING MEGADISC 3

  7.     Welcome to Megadisc. If this is the first time you've used 
  8.    Megadisc, there are a few things you should know about the way it 
  9.    operates.  Also see the SUBS&EXTRAS drawer for details of our truly
  10.                          AMAZING MEGADISC OFFER!!!

  12.     * To do most things all you need to do is use the mouse. To open
  13.    an icon, just double-click on it with the left button. All the text
  14.    files and graphics are set up to appear this way.
  15.  
  16.     * The text files are "attached" to a utility called XICON by 
  17.    Pete Goodeve, and to read through a file, just press the SPACE bar.
  18.    When you get to the end of the article, you can exit by either 
  19.    clicking on the "Close" gadget at the top left, or by pressing CTRL
  20.    and C simultaneously. If you want to exit before finishing, you can
  21.    do so by doing either of the above twice. To find out more about 
  22.    XICON look in the utilities drawer.

  24.     * The graphics are attached to the DISPLAY utility, a public
  25.    domain graphics displayer which also cycles colours in any graphic
  26.    which was created with cycling, say in Deluxe Paint.  To stop any 
  27.    cycling, just press the TAB key, and to restart, do the same again;
  28.    ie, it toggles.  To exit any graphic, click in the top left corner of
  29.    the screen, like other similar utilities.

  31.     * To print the Subscription Form automatically, double-click on
  32.    the PrintSubForm icon in the SUBS&EXTRAS drawer, having made sure
  33.    that your printer is ready to go.  Likewise to print out the entire
  34.    text contents of the disk, double-click on the PRINTFILES icon in the
  35.    UTILITIES drawer - but be warned that there are about 65 pages or more.
  36.    If you want to stop the printing, you'll have to reboot (CTRL-A-A).
  37.    If you want to print out just a couple of selected articles, you could 
  38.    use a Directory Utility such as DUIII on Megadisc 2, or you could enter
  39.    this in the the CLI:
  40.                    > cd Megadisc3:     (return)
  41.                    > type DrawerName/Filename to prt:    (return)
  42.  
  43.     * If you find that the text files scroll maniacally and can't
  44.    be read, you're probably in 60-column mode.  To change to 80-columns
  45.    open Preferences, and click on the "80" button.
  46.  
  47.     * There are a couple of other useful utilities on the disk: in
  48.    the PROGRAMS drawer you'll find ERA, and COMPARE courtesy Greg Epley
  49.    - this lets you set the time and date from the Workbench, rather than by
  50.    typing it in during the Startup-Sequence.

  52.     And that's about it.  If you've got any problems using the disk,
